    Hello all!

Today I'd to do something a bit new and different, which will become a regular thing in coming months. I'm going to start doing a State of the Site update. In the past I only did these when there were server moves, or when I was begging for money to keep the site online. I don't have bad news this time (Despite the acronym of the title being S-O-S), and I will try not to drag on for tooooooooooooooo long.

First up, financially everything is great. Seriously joining up with Olympus Games and integrating with ModDrop was the best choice I ever made. I've spent the past 18 months doing more for the site than I probably have since Torchlight 2 came out in 2012.

    Examples:
    • Depending on where you are browsing or subscribed you should be seeing semi-regular Mod Spotlights in our Twitter and Facebook feeds, as well as in the ModDrop Twitter and Facebook feeds. I've also set up a sub-forum on this site for Spotlights as well!
    • I'm in the ModDrop Discord and the technically Official Runic Games Discord, helping people who wander in and talking to old community friends and modders.
    • I recently went in and updated some of our largest mods with the most recent copies from their external sources. The reasons these mods moved away was due to former limitations we had on upload sizes, but now you can get them in their most recent glory once again.
    • Otherwise I've been free to work on other ModDrop-related projects behind the scenes. Not having to maintain the entire server on my own is so liberating!

Here are some mod-related news points as well:
    • I'm looking for volunteers to help organize some very old Fate mods that were rescued back in the day. If you're interested, hit me up on any social media platform, or e-mail at webbstre@runicgamesfansite.com
    • Sadly, Hob modding never took off. As such, I believe I'll remove the menu item soon.
    • If you are a modder who has uploaded mods to RGF, there is a system in place to go into ModDrop after making an account for yourself and claiming your mods from the site (The option asks you to connect by entering your RGF login information). I recommend you do that, and e-mails will be going out in the near future to remind modders of this.

In other news, while it's still so hard for my brain to comprehend that Runic Games was shut down (after all, I'm still here with the same group of people), I'm happy to report that many former Runic Games employees have gone on to amazing new jobs at some insanely popular game companies around the world! We've got several of them followed from our twitter account, if you want to go say hi for yourself.

That's it for this month! See you again in June!

    Hello all!

Today I announce a new project! A sad project. Basically, with Runic Games shut down we have no idea what state the official forums are going to be left in as time moves on. Already we see spam overtaking many areas of recent posts, with no moderation in sight.

That's why I am starting "The Grand Backup Project!" I've created a new, empty section of our own forums for people to use to copy over important content that could be lost if the forums are taken down unexpectedly. That includes, but is not limited to: class builds, modding guides, people posting about mods that are on external sites (not posting the mod here), tech support, and more.

    Here are the important links:

You're all welcome to help copy things over that you personally have found useful. Again, we don't know the time limit on this project, so sooner is better than never! ...

The past few days have not been nice to our community. First Runic Games gets closed down, and now everyone's favorite Torchlight 2 pet, Falcor, is very ill. I'll keep it short: Wonder needs only a little more to help cover Falcor's medical bills. I'll quote the details below, or you can donate by CLICKING HERE!

There's no easy way to break this news to you all.

    Read this

Basically, Perfect World shut down Runic Games' studio today. I've just woken up to this news, and I'm still in shock. I keep flashing back to Summer of 2008, when the founders' original studio (Flagship Studios) was also shut down but their publisher. Back then the team was working on Mythos, which was the best thing since Diablo 2 and has very little resemblance to it turned into after they left.

When Runic was founded a few weeks after that I wanted to show my support for them. I believed in that team's ability to make great games. I registered this website a couple of weeks later, with the intent to post news and eventually make a wiki. From that moment I've met so many people and gained so many skills while putting so much time and effort into growing this website and helping build the community.

I can't thank the people at Runic Games enough for working with me all of these years. I feel privileged to have had the chance to meet and work with so many great people. I'm so glad I made the effort to go visit the office when Hob was still in its early stages (thanks again for the steak lunch!).

I'm starting to run out of coherent sentences. Runic Games Fansite will still be here for the time being. As you may know, I sold the rights to Olympus Games a little over a year ago so that we could stay online and not lose all the fabulous Torchlight 1 and Torchlight 2 mods. We may merge our content into the ModDrop client even further as time goes on, but for the time being nothing is going to change significantly on this end.

I'll still be around to give you support for your mods, and try to help when you have problems with your game. The Runic Games Discord still appears to be staying where it is, so don't be afraid to stop by and say hello with the community and to the developers.

Thanks again to everyone at Runic. Thank you all for the opportunity to run something like this website. Thank you. ...

Look at that world. This is just a tiny fraction of the massive mechanical continent's beauty in Runic Games' latest masterpiece, Hob (Available today on Steam, Playstation 4, and GoG). Hob is an amazing mix of adventure, puzzle, and old school 3D platformer that constantly makes you switch from obsessing how amazing the visuals and music to pulling out your hair because you missed an important jump or can't find the path to the next area.
