It’s that time again!

This week we honor a popular mod, appropriately named IHateFishing, for those out there who can’t stand to take a break from battle to sit down and fish. Fishing in Torchlight is basically a trade-off: Either the action stops completely while you sit there and wait for a fish to be caught, or you battle through the game non-stop without ever experiencing Pet transformations. This mod bypasses the entire problem by having the monsters drop fish at random, at a rate uncommon enough so that you never feel like there are too many fish dropping.
Don’t take my word for it, go try out for yourself!

Our Friday treat for the week has gone up, and although it’s another introductory Dev Blog, it isn’t in the usual form. Apparently Mike Franchina’s wife decided to make this one for us:

Thank you Mrs. Franchina!

After some pleading and bribery, everyone’s favorite “Minister of Culture” at Runic has put up a nice long new post with pictures on the official site. What’s this post about? Nothing less than the epic battle of moving into a new office! It was announced quite some time ago that Runic had outgrown their old location and was preparing to relocate, and this is our first status update. Here is a sample:
We started with 17 people, subletting an office that fit us all just fine, but since then we’ve grown to 26. Suddenly, the office is a bit tighter and it’s not cool to play movies on the futon after hours when it’s next to the desk of someone working late. Happily, this growth spurt has coincided with our lease being up, ergo, moving!

The new office is half a block away, pretty much kitty-corner from where we are now. There’s a peek-a-boo view of the Sound (that’s a fancy realtor term for “you can see it between the other buildings and parking structures”) and it will let us stretch our legs a bit and even put that TV and futon in a separate room of their own.
For the full post and move pictures, go check out the post on the official site!

As you probably know, Runic recently one the Best Debut Award for Torchlight’s release in 2009. This was announced at this year’s Game Developer’s conference, and afterward Kotaku met up with Runic founders Max Schaefer and Travis Baldree and asked them about the possibility of Torchlight 2!
As always, Travis refused to commit to anything, but the Max responded to the question of “Will we see a Torchlight 2″ with an enthusiastic “Yes!”
Perhaps we have some announcements waiting for us in the future? Check out the video on Kotaku’s site and judge for yourself!

Sorry for the long wait, but I was out of town last weekend. Now it’s time for…

This week is a content booster, a pack of monsters made or collected together by AttackGorilla, an avid mod maker in the community. The monster pack includes:
- 3 Dragonkin variants
- zebramatt’s Children of the Damned monsters
- Corrupted soldier (4 variations and 4 champion variations)
- Sub Crawler (fire)
- 2 Mummy varieties
- Black Widow Spider
- Ravenous Ratlin
- Dark Varkolyn
- 4 Skeleton varieties
- 2 Goblin Predator varieties
If you are tired of killing the same old monsters over and over again, I highly suggest you give this mod a try! You can find it by clicking the picture above or right here.

In an unexpected bit of publicity, our own website and Mayo’s TorchLeech program got mentioned in a recent list of Runic’s Favorite Mods. Here is a sample of what they had to say:
Matt Tanwanteng, Engineer
I love just seeing all these different ideas take shape in our game. Most recently, Matt Nguyen’s Spirit Dancer class is a fun class that has a distinct feel from the original three, largely due to it’s abilities that allow the class to continue moving through attacks. There’s a full set of varied skills, and one specialized variant feels quite unique from the others.
I’m looking forward to the Decimator robot, a full class mod with a new skillset, a new model, and animations, as well as a new helper robot pet.
If you want to see more of the mods Runic is playing, check it out right here!
