No, that headline isn't a typo. There is actually talk about Torchlight 3 already, when Torchlight 2 was JUST announced less than a month ago. To be honest, Dusho originally talked to Max Schaefer about the possibility of a Torchlight 3 and he joked something along the lines of "maybe if we sell 3 million copied of Torchlight 2."
That comment never made the cut for our post with Dusho's information (we thought it was a joke!), but now one person on
Joystiq is causing waves by mentioning how Max was being serious! Here's a quote:
Runic Games CEO Max Schaefer respectfully believes that a third Torchlight game could be out before Blizzard's Diablo 3 -- a joke we'd made when the second Torchlight was recently announced. The executive tells us that the efficient size of the Runic team, which has a corporate goal to never grow above 40, would have the ability to get out another significantly upgraded sequel before Blizzard's behemoth arrived. Torchlight and its sequel have both had brisk development cycles lasting less than a year.
