Hello all, and welcome to the year 2014!
I'm glad to start off the new year on a bright note, announcing that I have moved over RGF to a brand new host, with a brand new hosting service. That's right, we're now broadcasting from the mythical service known as "The Cloud." To cut a long explanation short, for the first time ever we're on a Cloud-based Virtual Private Server, or Cloud VPS, which is slightly more expensive than a regular VPS, less expensive than a full-out Dedicated server (which is what we were previously using), and supposedly contains more scale-ability and fail-safes than a regular dedicated-server based machine.
What does this mean to you? Well two things:
- As the site is now for the first time ever COMPLETELY set up from scratch by yours truly, there may be bugs, glitches, error messages, or other screw-ups that are completely my fault and you should point out either in the comments section or by e-mailing firstname.lastname@example.org
- The cost of hosting is cheaper, so it means if you want to make a contribution to helping the site stay online, it will take much less for us to reach our monthly goal! With even a small number of donations combined with the advertising revenue it should be enough to keep us online for the foreseeable future!
Speaking of the future, would you believe Torchlight 2 released for the PC all the way back in 2012? My guess is we'll start hearing about Runic's next project in the near future, at which point we'll probably start branching out if the company begins new franchises. Stay tuned, it's gonna be a fun year! ...byPublished on 12-10-2013 04:17 PM

Here's a little bit of a promotional service announcement for you all! Help Torchlight 2 get on the modding radar by getting SynergiesMOD the title of Mod of the Year!
...That's right, its that time of the year! MODDB has put up their Voting booth for nominations of MOD OF THE YEAR. In order to vote you have to go to the mods page and click "VOTE FOR THIS MOD" to help it get into the nomination phase.
SynergiesMOD represents so much time and effort on mine and my teams behalf that even if you personally dislike the mod, you should consider the fact that it brings a fairly large chunk of content to the genre, and with enjoyment and balance in mind!
It is our best chance at getting Torchlight 2 and ARPG's even more justification on HOW they should be made. No DRM, Moddable and made to be FUN. The big block ARPG's would stifle our ability to mod, but this is our chance to show that the indie developers did it right, and that the fans of that franchise (synergies, and ALL modders) have what it takes to take on halflife, total war, company of heroes and so many other epic games!
Please, go to SynergiesMODS moddb site, and nominate it for mod of the year. After nominations, please return and vote for it as mod of the year. Torchlight2 gains by the exposure just as much as myself and all other modders do.

Hello all! A personal update for you all today! Many months ago I started the monthly Contribution drive to help keep the site's server fees paid for. Part of the reason for that was because I didn't have as much time to put into the site these days, due to a new job and an impending baby, and I was seriously debating shutting it down.
Well since that time several of the months' site hosting fees have been paid for entirely or mostly by the community, with the leftover being covered by the Advertisements and helping to keep the safety cushion up. It's been a huge relief of stress on my part to not have to worry about the site, and for the time being, with your help, I think the site will be safe and sound for your Torchlight and Runic Games-related needs.
At home, well I've changed jobs and adjusted pretty well, which has been great. More importantly though, this Halloween, at 3:35 PM, my own little boss spawn came into this world (there's the joke, I'm the boss and she's my spawn), to the safety of both my daughter and wife. As a little thank you to everyone who has helped keep the site alive, here's one of the first pictures of my own little girl (who does not yet have a name):
Obviously for the next few months I may be a bit lax in being able to check the site every day, but if anything big pops up I'll do my best to get it on the news page. If things are slow sometimes, I hope you'll forgive me for not being here every day. On the flip side, if you'd like to send in a substantial congratulations, well you know where the Contribution page is
Happy Belated Halloween everyone! ...
