Don't you love it when unrelated events have really good timing? Today a new video of Torchlight 2 surfaced on lostexp.com, featuring 11 minutes of gameplay guided by Runic President Travis Baldree. The video goes really well with Jerich's article that went online yesterday, covering some of the same topics and even revealing a little more. Here is the video and some bullet points of the new info and key things:

    • You can see the LAN option in action in the video - it has a really quick interface right now.
    • "Different things can happen at different times of the day" - example given was of zombies coming out at night in an area.
    • The rescued caravan event is shown, although it was just completed.
    • Public loot drops (such as in Diablo 2, where everyone can see loot) might be able to be modded in.
    • Networking is peer to peer, even within a single game. If the person who started the game leaves, "ownership" is handed off to another person. However, if two people are in one game but in separate areas, those separate areas are hosted by the separate computers. This is to keep lag to an absolute minimum.
    • You can see the Estherian Town and many areas completely run through.
    • Max (?) chimes in saying that Perfect World read all the same "we want multiplayer!" reviews. That helped persuade them to let Runic make Torchlight 2.
    • When the Torchlight MMO comes out Perfect World will be handling all of the operating (servers) and customer service, allowing Runic to stay small and focus on JUST working on the game.
    • You can see a few of the skills the Railman in action - the ones Jerich didn't get to cover.
    • Dual Wielding Bonuses and special attacks are in - example given was two Pistols equipped may occasionally let you do a double shot.

    1. The first of these is the mention of some unique dialogue dependent on the class you choose.
    2. The second is Travis Baldree going into how a skill will make the cut, and what he thinks about skill respec.

With the conclusion of Gamescom, and PAX just around the corner, Runic Games found the time to do an interview with The Cynical Brit. While most of the information is old, there were a few gems to be heard.

One piece of information that stood out was that the ability to add Races per class is being worked on with Torchlight II, but it is kinda unclear if it will be implemented in Torchlight II.

Below is a Bullet Summary of the Interview, but I highly recommend listening ...
