What is the Runic Games Fansite?

RGF is a site for fans of Runic Games’ Torchlight, former Mythos and current Fate players, Diablo players, and the like to gather and share information, ideas and good times. The best part of the Runic Games community – something that was essential to the Mythos community when the founding Runic devs were still working at Flagship Studios – is the great association between fans and developers. In the spirit of “If you build it, they will come” RGF is here for you. Nothing here will cost you a dime, and every change will be focused on giving the site expanded usefulness. When you come to the Runic Games community, you are getting a chance to participate in a gaming experience that is hard to find in a world where big gaming companies often ignore and enrage their fans.

Who runs the site?

At first, it was just me: Webbstre. I was a member of the Mythos beta from January to the very moment the server went down at the end. I participated on the forums, joined a guild, and even did a Dev interview for a friend’s site. As the owner of this website, I plan to do more than just wait for news, and go out and get interviews myself, asking the right questions that people want asked, and knowing what questions shouldn’t be repeated time and time again with the same answers (usually “we don’t know”). My goal is to make this site the one stop for anyone interested in information on Runic Games and Torchlight. Random facts about me include: I am married – I grew up in the United States and now live in Japan – one day I want to be an ambassador.

Trappski joined the staff in February of 2009. Currently a college student in Örebro, Sweden, he plans to graduate in Computer Science and Engineering before summer. He played Mythos and Hellgate, but admits to mostly single-player games, such as RPGs and RTS games. Trappski helps around the site with news, on the forums, and generally little things here and there.

Sp3tSnAz has been around the community since the early days of Mythos and Hellgate, and often posts gaming news – usually Diablo related – on various sites on the net. He also helps with news, and acts as an experienced advisor for the site. Sp3tSnAz lives in Australia and works with numbers. (What he does with numbers, I still don’t completely know, but feel free to ask him yourself)

How can I help with the site?

There are various public ways to help, including contributing to our wikis and having conversations on the forums, but if you REALLY want to get involved you can always check out our Staff Openings. We usually have different positions open for people who want to get involved. Of course, if you think you can help in some way we haven’t mentioned or thought up yet, feel free to e-mail Webbstre and tell him what you have in mind!
