    Gamescom Day 1 Recap

The first day of Gamescom has ended and Day 2 has begun, so it's time for a recap of the day! If you are a little confused, yesterday was the day for private exhibition and right now the convention is open for the public. Anyways, let's get into everything from Day 1:

First, if you didn't notice already, the official Torchlight 2 Trailer has been online for a little over 24 hours and has hit every major gaming site on the web. If you missed it yesterday, click here. If you want to see some of the screen stills we extracted from the video, click here to check out the picture album. There are some interesting pictures worth checking out, including what appears to be a group aura, a shuriken, a new green pet, and destructible barriers. I have a selection listed out on this post from the official forums.

There is also a little information about the areas shown in the trailer video, given to us by Patrick Blank on the official forums:

The areas shown in the video are linear. We have different types of outdoor areas, most of this was filmed in what we call "Passes". These passes are outdoor areas that connect different zones, and are meant to be quick, tighter, and more focused gameplay experiences that break up the feel between the larger areas, and are usually heavily themed for look and feel. There are only a few passes in each area. 80% of the outdoors are huge randomized areas. They are all very open, and much, much larger than the biggest dungeon we had in Torchlight.

Next up, a Youtube video has surfaced that shows the game in action. It is hard to tell what it going on in the video, but you can see that the interface has been extended and completely overhauled. We'll have more updates on the pet and the new interface as soon as some higher quality screenshots, photos or video are released.

Moving on, there was a short audio interview with Greg Brown, the man behind TorchED and Torchlight's developers tools. You can find the short audio file at this link.

Last up, we have a couple pictures and a video courtesy of everyone's favorite Minister of Culture, Wonder!

Be sure to come back this time tomorrow for more!
