This is a news post, but it was posted using an older now-outdated method of posting. The actual post is below these handy asterisks:
I am awake, alive, and once again posting more Fansite Event coverage! This time we've got Flux's report on Diablo IncGamers. While note a Torchlight fansite, there are a lot of Diablo fans who are also looking forward to Torchlight (and vice-versa) and Flux gives us an excellent report of more of a newcomer's impression of Torchlight 2, as well as a lot of those delicious Diablo 3 vs Torchlight 2 comparisons that we all love. Here's a quote!
I really enjoyed reading the report, so if you have a few minutes go check it out! Also if anyone has any Diablo 3 beta keys, feel free to send one my way.So what was so much better about Torchlight 2 than Diablo III, then? The pace and action early on, mainly.
As I mentioned above, very early into Torchlight 2 you are seeing very fast and fun action, with lots of enemy targets on all sides. This isn’t exactly dangerous, since their AI isn’t good enough to swarm you, but it certainly looks and feels more intense than anything in early Diablo III. Very soon after that, in the early (huge!) surface area, you find numerous pockets of monster packs that will put you to the test, and numerous dungeons that have challenges well beyond anything in the extended tutorial that is the Diablo III beta.
