Enchanting in Torchlight II works differently from Torchlight I. Unlike the first game where enchanting was based on a wipe chance and as many enchants as chance permitted, players will be limited to a maximum of four enchantments on their equipment; however, the chance of an accidental wipe is no longer possible. In place of the wipe chance is the choice to pay for a wipe in order to obtain new enchantments.

The price of an enchant is calculated by:
Base Price = 55 • (Item Level) + 245
Total Price(Rounded up) = Enchantment Count Multiplier • Base Price • Rarity Multiplier
(Greens seem to not count the Rarity Multiplier.)
