    Custom Music

I've been fooling around and putting in custom music for my game. It is rather simple. I first downloaded a program called Free Mp3/Wma/Ogg Converter at http://download.cnet.com/Free-Mp3-Wma-O ... 93572.html
Then using my favorite mp3's I converted them, renamed them according to the corresponding ogg file I wanted to replace and saved them in the C:\Program Files\Runic Games\Torchlight\music folder.
Give it a try. I have also used WavePad, found at http://download.cnet.com/WavePad-Sound- ... 76212.html, to layer background sounds for more ambiance.

For all you Zelda fans out there. Make a Hyrule musically themed game.

    Have fun! ;D

    Re: Custom Music

    I have a problem:

Some of the musics I've replaced don't play when I'm in the curresponding areas, You can only hear the Ambiental Sounds. And some of them work just fine.

What should I do to get them all working? :s

Are your new music files all in the same format (.ogg)? did you make sure the names on your replacement files are exactly the same as the original file names?

    Re: Custom Music

I would very much like some help with custom music as well.

I downloaded the CFF music pack ( awesome by the way ) and it works fine.

However when I tried replacing the town theme with another song it wouldn't play.

    Here's what I did in a nutshell:

    1. Downloaded the mp3
    2. Converted the mp3 to ogg
    3. Replaced the Town.ogg with the new file ( which of course I renamed to Town.ogg )

When in game the town theme won't play - I went back and swapped to the original file and it works.

I would love some clarification on this.

FYI - I am using Steam version, not that I think that matters since the CFF pack works fine.

    Re: Custom Music

what were you using to convert the .mp3 you chose, to .ogg? does it give you options when converting, like how much compression it'll use? try playing around with those settings; it may have an impact on whether TL will play the .ogg or not.

Yea that's what I was thinking - since I don't have much experience with audio I just used the same as the cff pack. Was hoping someone knew what settings are needed by the game.

Also - I used the Any Audio Converter program

Sorry I'm not sure what the game would be looking for in terms of .ogg settings, but it should be pretty lax actually.

Okay im not familiar with that program; I use Audacity myself. But even Audacity just has a simple compression-level slider for its "export to .ogg" options. I keep my setting smack in the middle

    Re: Custom Music

Okay I got it to work at last.

Seems the problem was actually with the mp3 file itself - it may be due to the fact that I used keepvid.com to download/convert the mp3.

Any way, I got an actual mp3 download and even used audacity and it worked

Thanks for taking an interest Phanjam
