Did anyone ever figure out how to get class mods to work on mac?

    As title suggets,

I'm new to Torchlight and I would like to use additional classes on mac version. I can get the mods to load, but I can never get any additional classes available on startup screen.

    Help?

I'll take this silence to mean. . .No.

What about mods that do swaps? Like places a new class in the place of one of the three? Or would it be possible to just make the class choices result in new classes without putting up the portraits and names?

    Hi supified! Merry Christmas!
Please don't take the silence to mean "no" just yet - I'm sure it's just the Holidays quiet
I have no experience running TL on a mac, but just to see if I can help, which class mods did you try to run?
Also, you might check out the runicgames forums. I believe there's a lot of Mac-related threads over there

    Hi.

    Lady knight, paladin, banshee. .

The problem I'm having with all of them is that the mods don't seem to work. I think that the way mac works vs the way pc works, it won't let it redraw the char selection screen.

I also suspect that other mac users (like me) probably eventually just give up and run it as a pc game. I'm about to this point myself honestly.

The mods seem to load, but I can't get around that initial problem, this is in part why I think if i could just make it so selecting vanquisher (for instance) means I start the game as a mod race, that would be fine enough I suppose. I just don't know if even that is possible.

As to the forums, everything I've read seems to point to class mods not working on mac.

(aargh! I have bitten off more than I can chew) I wish I knew more about running TL on Macs! I'm sorry I may not be much help to you, but if you can hang on as the other members start getting back from their Holidays, I'm sure some answers will start to bubble to the top...

Well, I may have found the cause of the problem (although not the solution yet)...

Apparently Macs will not work with mods that use .imageset files. Using .imgaeset file is a common method for anew mod to introduce new icons into the game. Unfortunately I think it's used by almost all the new class mods here But I'm sure someone has come up with a workaround.

I think I read a little about the imageset issue.

Is that the only option for getting those files into the game? Can i manually change them to a different file format that will work with torchlite?

Sorry I didn't get back to you over here (responding on the Steam forums though!). I don't have a Mac either, and my wife certainly isn't about to let me touch hers, so I can't be much help beyond how to theoretically get it to work.

I've made some progress on this. I went into the pak.zip file and put the mod directly into the media.

Doing this I managed to get the character select screen to include the new character, however selecting them resulted in a crash. I'm not sure what the cause of this is yet, so I'm gong to try scaling back.

Another thing occurred to me. Could I be installing these dreadfully wrong? My understanding of the imageset issue is that it causes a crash. Well I'm getting crashes now, but I wasn't before. This makes me wonder if maybe there is a problem with my installation.
