Issues With Getting Mods To Work

So I took the time to download Torchleech and whatnot. I installed one of the never disenchant mods and started up the game. Right after I hit play, the screen goes black and the Windows 7 loading icons appears for ever. I went into task manager to find it's not responding. So I try a couple more times no luck. Eventually I delete the mod, and torchlight works fine. Help me, please?

Oh yeah, I have the steam version if that makes a difference.

    Questions!

1- Is the game ever reaching the character screen?
2- Does this happen with other mods?

    1. No it does not. Right after I hit play, the screen goes black like it is going to load but it just stays that way and goes into "not responding" mode.

    2. And yes I have tried two others, they did the same thing.

Re: Issues With Getting Mods To Work

In that case, I suspect it's one of those cases of Torchlight taking a really long time to compile/compare/load the files with the regular game. Usually smaller mods only require a short extra period to do this, and then the second time you run the game afterwards it loads much faster, but sometimes it seems like some people's computers just take forever to load. I suggest loading the mods you want, starting the program, and just let it sit there for as long as it takes to load. After that as long as you don't change/remove the mods it shouldn't take so much time to load the game.

Like I said before, I don't know why some people take so much longer to load mods than others. This kind of thing only happens to me when I get near the maximum number of mod files Torchlight can handle, and I'm on a Quad Core Win7 64-bit computer as well. For all I know it could be a hardware problem or a driver problem or a security software problem slowing things down. Hopefully my suggestion helps things work for you.
