New File Added: Tier4 Legendary Items

Downloads: A new file has been added by Jupiah:

    Tier4 Legendary Items

    Tier4 Legendary Items
    version 1.0
    by pampl, Jupiah

This mod adds a new tier (1000+) items to the game for the level 90-120 range. Similar to the Tier2 Epic items, these items are prefixed with the word "Legendary". This mod is meant to be used along with my Tier3 Mythic Items mod, but can be used alone with no issues - you'll just have a hard time finding decent equipment between levels 60 and 90.

Keep in mind that you'll never be able to equip about 1/4 of these items unless you also install a mod that lets you level up past 100. Even maxing out your armor mastery skill will only let you equip items up to level 110.

I also applied the fixes from my Item Bug Fixes mod to the files I generated these new items from, so all those name changes and typo fixes are also applied to the new Legendary items. So you won't be finding any Legendary The Legendary Bloodclave Axe in my mod!

99% of the credit for this mod goes to pampl, as I generated the new tier using the scripts included in his Unlimited Item Scaling mod. This is how I did it:
    1) I Edited the scripts to customize the prefix applied to the new tier, which took me an hour of experimenting to figure out how to keep it from adding too many spaces or overwriting the item names. (I know, pathetic).
    2) I installed torchED, made a backup of the media files included, placed pampl's script in the media/units/items folder and double clicked on it.
    3) After generating the Tier3 Mythic Items, I swapped the script for the tier4 version and then double clicked that one. This generated the Tier4 Legendary items.
    4) I checked the newly generated files to make sure they weren't broken and loaded them up in the game to generate new GUIDs.
    5) I uploaded them to internet!

Seriously, I never could have made this without those scripts. Thanks pampl!

Bonus! I've included the script I used to generate these items within the archive. You can use it to generate Tier4 Legendary versions of your mod-added items if you'd like, provided they included epic versions which conform to the same naming conventions as the default Tier2 items that shipped with the game. By this I mean:

The mod includes a folder named "itemstier2" and the items within that folder have filenames, <STRING>NAME: and <TRANSLATE>DISPLAYNAME: that all begin with "epic".

If all that is true then all you should have to do is place the "generate tier3 mythic" script in the media/units/items folder and double click it. It should create a new folder called itemstier3 containing copies of the epic items with the "epic" in the filenames, stringnames and displaynames changed to "mythic", the <INTEGER>LEVEL: value increased by 30 and the <STRING>UNIT_GUID: value deleted. (don't worry, the game will generate a new GUID automatically).

Next repeat these steps with the generate tier4 legendary script, and it should create a new folder called itemstier4, modified similarly to the mythic ones (Legendary prefix for filename, stringname and display name and item level increased by another 30).

Please take note that you MUST generate the itemstier3 folder first! The generate tier4 legendary script needs the mythic items to work right, if you try to use it with itemstier2 the filenames, stringnames and display names will be messed up. Sorry, that's just the way it is. If you don't want the mythic items but you still want legendary items (if, say, you're already using tier3 ancient items) just delete the itemstier3 folder when you're done.

Now most modders seem to follow these standards already so for most mods this should be easy, but you'll probably need to move around, rename and edit the items in at least a few of your mods of you want to generate mythic and legendary versions for them. I had to do so with about a third of the item mods I had installed anyway.

If you're a modder and you'd like to include any of these items in your own mod, feel free. Just make sure to throw pampl's name in there, and possibly mine too if you're feeling generous.

    Enjoy!

Just to double check, does this include the Tier 3 items as well? Because it doesn't make sense not to

No I uploaded those separately. You're right that it would make sense to combine the mods but I thought that some people might already have Tier3 Ancients mod installed, those people would only need the Tier4 Legendary items since Tier3 Mythic and Tier3 Ancient are 98% identical except for the prefix used and a few bug fixes in Tier3 Mythic.

Since most item mods conflict, would installing both result in an either/or situation?

Re: New File Added: Tier4 Legendary Items

Another question: would adding this tier on top of Jarcho's Class Compiliation result in too many items for the game to process? I know JCC and the LvlandSkill Mod are not compatible, lvl & skill adds tier 3 legendary and tier 4 heavenly, there's already a tier 3 in JCC. I also removed 1 or the other with JCC loaded and even w/o the legendary tier from LvlandSkill, the game textures get screwy. Removing the ancient tier from JCC also causes problems. Just wondering if the same will occur with this one. I did a complete mod removal overhaul and started fresh w/ JCC, don't want to have to do it again >:x (I did this because I couldn't determine for sure if it wasn't just a mod conflict somewhere).

I ask this because Jarcho warns that most of the extra processing space for the game is used up by JCC.

I think you'd have to duplicate the Tiers for other classes... but yeah, if you managed to make it work for all the other classes, it'd almost certainly be too much for the game.

No, both tiers are installed to separate folders. Mythic items are in media/units/items/itemstier3 and Legendary items are in media/units/items/itemstier4. You should be able to use both at the same time with no issues. I've tested this a bit in my own game, and with no classes installed you won't hit the item limit and get screwy textures until itemstier5. and since it'd be impossible to ever use Tier 5 items without the LvlandSkill mod, this isn't an issue for most people.

You might have not be able to use this mod if you have too many classes installed though, I haven't experimented to see how many the game can support in addition to two new tiers of items.

As Webbsre said, you'd have to patch the tier extensively to work with all those classes (HotSpot has a tool for that) but I'm guessing it probably would be too much. I've never used more than one class at a time, but Jarcho's mod warns that a "small number" of items will cause issues, and this mod adds over a thousand. Sorry.

No big deal, I'll probably go back to using lvlandskill for additional classes once I'm done playing through all of JCC. That is if Jarcho doesn't do another 1 including the Enchantress, Banshee, Jedi, and Sith Lord classes. Neat idea though, I'm always down for more item variety.
