The Rules, Etc.
There are some rules we have to enforce, to keep the site running smoothly and to avoid any unhappy incidents. Just like the forums, and the wikis, the main thing to remember about the rules is that if you are using common sense you should be fine. These rules apply to everything, from your blog to the files you upload, and as always the spirit of the rules is more important than the letter.
- - - Rule 1 - - - You will not upload Offensive Materials - - -
Offensive can be a broad term, but we'll keep it labeled clearly as the extremes. In other words, nothing Pornographic (it is against our host's TOS) and nothing overtly offensive (baby killings, Nazi mods, racist, etc). Chances are the average person won't have to worry about this rule.
*Note* Any content that has been flagged by 5 people as Offensive will be unpublished.
*Other Note* If you feel you have been wrongfully flagged, contact a moderator.
- - - Rule 2 - - - You are responsible for your own malware - - -
Let's be honest, putting a virus scanner on the server would take too many resources, and having to wait for a manual scan from a moderator would take too much time. As such, it is your responsibility to scan files before uploading then and to scan files after you download them. If you find any kind of virus or other malware in a download, just return to the page you downloaded it from and Flag it as Malware. A moderator will deal with it when they can, and until then others will know to avoid it.
*Note 1* Anyone improperly flagging others' files as malware in a malicious attempt to make people avoid another's mods will find their privileges suspended.
*Note 2* Any content caught with 3 people Flagging it as malware will be unpublished.
- - - Rule 3 - - - You will only upload files related to mods - - -
Whether you are using the site's upload script, or a specially made FTP account, if you are caught uploading other files for personal distribution or transfer (and this can include anything - mp3 rips, video downloads, game cracks and hacks, etc) you will be banned from the entire modding database and forums. This site is for the members of the community to grow stronger and share their creations with each other, not for other kinds of file distribution.
- - - Rule 4 - - - You will not spam or repeatedly upload deleted mods - - -
Sometime persistence is a good thing, and sometimes it is not. If you are found spamming in any form, whether it is irrelevant links to some unrelated website or repeatedly uploading a mod after it has been deleted, you will have your posting privileges removed. This includes spamming other sites with links to your mod in an effort to boost rating (for example, in order to win a contest or something).
- - - Rule 5 - - - You will use your common sense - - -
Seriously, if you think something is a bad idea, don't do it. If you aren't sure, ask someone on staff for their opinion. It isn't that hard to contact us.
