    Trouble Downloading Mods

Hi @Kreisher . Here's what I've been getting during download attempts...

First of all searching within the client for the particular mod I wanted proved troublesome...

So I tried to start the DL from the mod's RGF page instead. The client then showed this overlay for about a minute...

Then the overlay goes away and this status bar message shows for about a minute...

Then another minute with this status bar message...

The "Cancel task x of y" part is confusing - like "hey I only started 1 download!"
But it eventually ended up here...

So I tried to re-do the DL from the start (from the RGF page). This time it jumped directly to this message...

About the "could not connect to ModDrop server" message - do you need to put in a firewall exception rule? There was no ModDrop or Olympus Games exception when I checked (the client did not offer to make one either during install).

EDIT - Thanks @Webbstre for fixing posting in these forums

    Re: Trouble Downloading Mods

Thanks for the bug report Phanjam!

We've got a fix for the downloading issue and will be pushing out an update this evening.

As for the search issue, there's two things to keep in mind:

First, we don't currently have a way to keep mods on ModDrop in sync with the mods on the site. Right now we have to do a manual pull / push of content up update the files on the client. This means that mods that were recently uploaded to the site won't appear in the client. We are working on a solution for this, but for now expect a delay before a new mod on the site appears in the client.

Second, we don't have search in the client set up to index exact file names. It searches mod names, categories titles and text in the "tagline." We assumed most people wouldn't event know the file name and that indexing them wouldn't be useful. For power users (such as yourself), it maybe a nice thing feature to add though. I'll talk with the team and see about adding it in a future update.

To be honest, I used "Warbounds" for my 1st search, just like you predicted most ppl would do so your indexing logic is fine!

Sorry for the late replay Phanjam. The update went live mid week. Let me know if you are still running into troubles with downloading from the site.

Thanks @ Kreisher ! Dowwnloading now.

About the client not reminding about updates - pretty sure you have this planned, but would be more convenient if the client would remind about it and allow you to trigger the DL as well. Would also help ensure everyone is on the same build (or at least aware there's a new build out )

    Re: Trouble Downloading Mods

Okay so I tried DLing Warbounds again on the new client. It wasn't in the online db yet, so I started the DL from the mod's RGF page like the last time.

This time it went down without a hitch! I noticed that I had 2 copies of the Warbounds mod though (Warbounds and Warbounds(1) ). So I just installed one of them and deleted the other.

I opted to sync the one I installed. The client explained that synced mods would be available to me from any device.

doudley (the Warbounds author) hadn't filled-up a lot of the metadata and info fields. This means the user must rely on what the author has posted on the RGF DL page itself. Might be a good idea to scrub the DL page to "borrow" what the author posted there, so that the info in the client isn't so bare! Including any images in the scrub would be very good.

The client has an auto-update feature that (should) notify you when a new version is out. If you skip the update (don't want to restart), the update will be applied automatically the next time you restart the client.

Agreed! We need to do another pull from the site to update the content in the client. We also are in desperate need of a "Media" section where you can view images and video for a mod. It's been on your todo list for a long time, but it keeps getting pushed back for some reason. Same goes for adding a "Comments" and "Review" section. Soon hopefully.
